Another Driver Benefits From Raven Green Car Loan

By Walter Wilson Nana

The Buea branch of Raven Green Finance PLC has given out another taxi car to a driver in need in the municipality.

At the handing over ceremony of the car documents and keys to the driver, Rapheal Njumkong Gabuin, the Buea Branch Manager of Raven Green, Gladys Asaah said her micro finance institution is living up to the expectations of some of their activities, which is providing financial services to the active poor. “As part of our social policy, Raven Green buys cars and give them out to drivers in need as soft loans. The cab driver gets the car, works with it and pays the money due for it with ease. When the worth of the car is repaid to Raven Green, the driver owns the car,” Asaah mentioned. She will add: “This is the 9th car we are giving out in Buea. Two more will be given out before January 2013 runs out.”

To the more than fifty members of the Buea Responsible Drivers Association, who were present during the handing out of the car to one of them, Asaah said Raven Green is looking forward and backward never. “We’re here to secure your finance and ensure that we grow together,” she noted.

Gabuin, a driver for eighteen years, member of the Buea Responsible Drivers Association and beneficiary of the 9th car said it is a win-win partnership between Raven Green and himself. “There is no time frame for me to repay the worth of the car, but I look forward to progress in our partnership. Thanks to Raven Green Finance PLC, I now own a car,” he added.

Besides the Raven Green car loan scheme, the Buea Branch Manager said they are into other market segments, especially in the agricultural sector. “We offer loan facilities to farmers who are in large scale production in cash and food crops. Through this strategy, we are in a position to boost their sales. Our Students’ Saving Account is also exciting. The service is free of charge, no accounting fee is asked. With FCFA 2000, a student can start his or her account at Raven Green.”

Raven Green Finance PLC, a micro finance institution, operates four branches in Cameroon. Three of them are in the following neighbourhoods in Yaoundé; Cradat, Carrefour Emia and Mvog-Bessi. The other branch is in Molyko, Buea.

After one year on the ground, Raven Green officials say they have come to stay.
