SDF Takes Over Tiko Council

The number one opposition political party, The Social Democratic Front (SDF) has taken over the management of the Tiko council. The ceremony which took place in the council building situated at Likomba, was presided by the Divisional Officer (DO) for Tiko, Mr.  Che PATRICK Ngwashiri. During the handover ceremony, an inventory document bearing all the properties of the council was handed over to the incoming Mayor, Mr Moukondo Daniel Ndande.

The DO reminded Mr. Ndande of the task that lies ahead of him: The 50th anniversary of the reunification yet to be celebrated will demand hygiene and sanitation from Dibanda in the Mongo to Tiko area which falls under the Mayor’s municipality.

To the councilors, the DO called upon them not to be distracted. He assured council workers that the Mayor has come not to send them away but to work with them.

The incoming Mayor who is also the Manager of Dipita Business Services and President of the SDF Party for Tiko, told iCameroon he was a Mayor  11 years ago. Therefore, with his experience and the call from the population, he has accepted to be the Mayor.

As an opposition party, they have both short term and long term plans, and they are aware of the tasks that await them.

For the short term plans, they will concentrate on the road infrastructure,

hygiene and sanitation, respect working hours by council workers, extension of electricity to areas which are lacking. Projects like permanent portable water source, heavy equipment’s for road maintenance and construction will be part of their long term projects.

He considers the administration as a continuous process, and for this reason, he will adopt participatory approach. He urges the council and the people of Tiko to contribute in the development of the area.

Mr. Elundu JOSEPH Mambe, District Organizing Secretary of the SDF Tiko, expresses satisfaction for taking over the office the deputy mayor of Tiko. He will ensure that changes are noticed within the Tiko municipality.

The Technical Adviser for SDF Tiko, Njafu Musa, is happy that SDF has come to save their municipality which has suffered two mandates of stagnation in development. He is confident that the new Mayor will take Tiko to another level based on his past record and experience.
