Four playing days into the MTN Elite I championship, lone Southwest flag bearers, Njalla Quan Sports Academy, are still chasing their first victory of the season.
The Limbe side fell to defending champions Union Sportive Douala no goal to 1 on Sunday March 10, at the Centenary Stadium, Limbe, to the utter disappointment of their thousands of fans.

After a goalless first half, it was substitute Edoa Ngah Charles who hammered in the winner, 36 minutes into the second segment.
Reacting to Sunday’s defeat, NQSA manager, Carl Enow Ngachu sounded fair play, acknowledging that Union was a better side.
“It is a game of football. We didn’t play well today. We played against a formidable Union side, and they merit their victory. However, the league is still very long, and we shall do everything to come out with a victory in our next game in Bangante. We will continue working and I remain very positive with regards to the rest of the competition” Ngachu stated.
To his opposite, Bonaventure Djonkep, it was a highly contested match despite their vital 1-0 win.

“Both teams gave their best and we only beat them after a serious struggle. We started this championship timidly, but we are picking up. I think we have started getting back to winning ways, and we shall see how the competition progresses.
We are very pleased, given that we will be engaged in the African Club Cup next weekend. It was necessary for my boys to get the right morale. That is how the team has to function, and it is good enough for us”. Djonkep added.
Also present during Sunday’s game, was the president of Union Sportive Douala, Franck Happi, who described the victory as a new beginning for a better Union.
“We desperately needed those three points and it was important we opened out sheet because everyone was wondering why Union had not won a single game so far.

I think, globally, we deserved to win this match. We had a slow start because we were preparing for the African Champions League when others were preparing for the national league. But, the engine has picked up and you are going to see a better Union Douala. Now, we are focused on our match in Morocco next week.” Happi revealed.
Talking about their return leg clash against Fuse of Morocco in the 16th final round of the CAF Champions League come March 17, the president said the team was combat-ready for the encounter.
“One of our coaches is already in Morocco, he watched two of our opponent’s matches, and we are quite prepared”. He linked up.
Following Sunday’s defeat, the Njalla Quan Sports Academy Limbe now totals three points from three draws, and four games played.
Meanwhile, sister club, Tiko United recorded an away 1-1 tie against UMS of Loum, on Match Day 5 of the MTN Elite II Championship, played same Sunday March 10 in Loum.
