Cameroon to Organize a Youth Employment Forum

The third edition of Youth Employment Forum to train youths on career development and orientation is scheduled for the 23, 24 and 25 of January 2014 at the Yaoundé city center. The Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Zacharie Perevet announced at a press conference held at his ministry.

The forum’s aim is to train and orientate youths towards career development and self-employment, create an avenue for both job seekers and prospective employees to meet. The Minister hopes to see job seekers find employment with the private sector rather than depend on public sector as the best and only means of employment.

The forum, according to Minister Zacharie Perevet, is expected to host over 1,500 visitors from different works of life. The participants will include youths from secondary schools, professional and higher institutions, unemployed youths, persons in search of new techniques of professional orientation in the domain of human resources and economic development.

This forum will be divided into three parts. The first part will constitute exhibitions where companies or enterprises, through their representatives, will present to the public their activities and available employment opportunities.  The second part will have a round table conference that discusses economic opportunities.  The third part will entail companies or enterprises to inform the public on employment and business opportunities and financial aid available for startups or existing businesses.

Partners to this event will be the Ministries of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Small and Medium Size Enterprises, Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Economy, Planning and Regional Development and other government and private entities.

At the end of the forum, organizers will create a website that will carry business and job opportunities from companies and organizations. Job seekers and entrepreneurs will find this website a place to find employment and look for business opportunities and financing.
