Cameroon Celebrates the International Day of the Woman

Cameroon joined the rest of the world to celebrate the 27TH edition of the International Day of the Woman under the theme “EMPOWER RURAL WOMAN: END HUNGER AND POVERTY.”

After a long period of preparations, it was March 8th the international day of the woman. The women could be seen in their traditional women’s day attire carrying different designs and styles. And some men were also actively in the same attire to support the women.

In Buea the chief town of the South West Region, The occasion was held under the patronage of the Governor of the South West Region represented by the Secretary General at the Governor’s office and in the presence of the South West Regional Delegate for Women empowerment- Mrs Mofa Judith.

The celebration started as the women gathered at the Bongo square for the exposition of different craft works to show case the woman’s worth.  The women matched through the grand stand   in their various groups and associations.

The Match Pass was exciting as the Regional Delegate for Women Empower led her workers as they match to recognize the role of the woman in the society. But it was more excited as the HYSACAM women demonstrated their worth by driving the garbage lorry usually driven by men in the company.

The Delegate for Women Empowerment gave an educative talk to the women, to be virtuous and realize their goals as a woman. And the women were urged to avoid excesses as they resorted to their various social corners for the feasting part of the celebration.
