The Minister of Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), Emmanuel Nganou Njoumessi visits Bamenda and announces that the construction of the Menchum Hydroelectric Plant by a Chinese firm is underway.
A Chinese team and the Chief of Service for the Production of Thermal Energy from the Ministry of Energy and Water, Mr Fotso Mambou Michel, travels to Menchum Hydroelectricity plant located at river Katsina in menchum.
This project among others like the Memvele and the Lom Pangar hydro-electricity plant are energy projects the Cameroon government has put in place to meet with the growing energy demand.
The Menchum fall is located between Bafut and Wum in the North West Region of Cameroon. The plant is aimed at increasing energy production by 450 megawatts.
The project is estimated to cost 500 billion francs CFA.
