VATS 2013 AT ITS FINALS

The finals of the 2013 edition of the college Vogt Athletic Club football tournament (VATS) took place today at the college Vogt main stadium. The players of the various teams and their supporters were at the college main campus by 11:00 AM, and third position matches of both categories, that is, the cadets and minims kicked off at 12:00 AM.

For the minims, APJES football club beat their opponents, Oxygiene by 2 goals to 0. The APJES white boys scored their two goals at the first half of the encounter. Their team captain, Mulango Clement was nominated as tournament best player for the minims category. He told icameroon that, his team will come back very strong next year, and will surely attain the finals of next year’s competition.

The third position match for the cadets played between Oxygiene and College Vogt. Oxygiene defeated the college Vogt boys by 3-1. According to the team captain of college Vogt, the defeat to them was a bitter pill to swallow given the fact that they hosted the competition, and were aiming at reaching the finals.

The much awaited moments of the tournament then came at exactly 3:00PM when the minims of Tafi foundation FC locked hands with Hope FC. Before the encounter, the coach of Tafi foundation, Mahouli Denis told icameroon that his team was only a year old, and that it lost its first finals at the LIFA Christmas holidays football tournament in December 2012 at Government bilingual High School Etoug-Ebe Yaounde. He however said he was so much confident of his boys. The team coach of Hope FC, Onana Frank on his part said his boys were experienced players who have confronted many teams and have as well won many trophies. Hope FC has existed for five years, and has won the VAT competition in 2012, won Festi Noel at Camp tournel, won the finals of the Mbalmayo foot ball competition that was organized by the mayor of Mbalmayo in August 2012, the Etoudi tournament organized by Dr. TANA Ahanda in 2011. The lone and winning goal of the encounter was scored at the 30th minute of play by the attacker of Tafi FC. It was a joyous moment for Tafi FC, and a sad one for Hope FC.

The finals of the cadet category started at 4:45 pm between Tafi FC and Hope FC. Both teams lost many chances, and the ninety minutes folded out without any of the teams sending the ball into the net of the other. There was no prolongation, and Hope FC carried the day in penalty kick outs by 5-3. The best player of the cadet category came from Hope FC, KASPA NFOUNDA. The teams were awarded trophies by the organizing committee under the watchful eyes of the Secretary General of the Centre regional league who represented the SG of FECAFOOT. The occasion was spiced by animations from students of the College Vogt dance group.
