According to Effoe, IVTC will do more in terms of training and professionalism on their trainees if the institution, placed under the control of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training is equipped with updated technical and computer laboratories, the recruitment of more vocational training personnel, the acquisition of a bus for the centre and the construction of more classrooms.

The aforementioned wishes for the graduates will be re-echoed by Comfort Oben Ojongport from the Buea Council. She enjoined the trainees to be dedicated and professionally upright as they move out to the job market.

While expressing gratitude to the government of Cameroon for providing an opportunity to the youths to move from despair to hope via the creation of vocational training centres like IVTC across the country, Ojongport made a plea to the IVTC administration to be rigorous and increasingly professional in their training curriculum so as to make the institution promising and valuable to the Cameroonian people.

The Secretary General in the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, Jeanne-Aimé Ekotto Ngoboh told the graduates to register with the National Employment Fund, NEF and not stay at home. “You have to indicate that you are in the job market through NEF. Find out more on what is happening in the employment market,” she said adding that “after the classroom, the professional world is another reality, which have to be fought with knowhow, assiduity and a deep sense of commitment.”

Ekotto Ngoboh promised to take the worries raised by Effoe to the Ministry’s hierarchy, while enjoining her to liaise with entrepreneurs like Junior Chamber International, JCI 2010 World President, Roland Kwemain for the benefit of IVTC.

Kwemain who delivered a discourse on “Professionalism and Economic Growth,” said the graduates like those already working must be of good character and show a good public relations in all they do in order to achieve growth.

To him, a professional must be outstanding in his/her activities, be time conscious, responsible and accountable. “A professional do not shift blames but looks at the future,” he advised.

Kwemain prayed on the graduates and all to acquire a positive mindset, be humble, be honest, be unique, pay attention to details, avoid corruption, tribalism and be hopeful in all they do.

In her valedictory statement, President of the 130 trainees, Chibwana Likowo reiterated the place of vocational training in Cameroon’s educational and professional landscape.
She appealed to the stakeholders of IVTC to belief in the centre saying; “IVTC is reputed for excellent secretarial training, Computerised Accounting, Management, Computer Technicians and Bilingual Secretaryship.”
