Manyu Solidarity Foundation(MSF) Encourages Excellence

By Wilfred Enow

Academic excellence is a rich page in the history of Manyu division. It is for this reason that the 17 years old organization MSF offers yearly prices of excellence to students who hail from Manyu division as encouragement.

Unlike in the past years, the 2012 award was exceptional:  the fact that the ceremony was held in Mamfe town for the first time ever, the beneficiaries were not only from secondary schools but also from primary schools. There was an increase in number of beneficiaries from 40 Laureates in 2011 to 53 in 2012. Laureates benefited cash prizes ranging from 50,000frs to 200,000frs depending on their performances.

The Mamfe town hall was colorful with Sons and daughters of Manyu. Victor Arrey Mengot, Minister Delegate in charge of special duties at the Presidency and member of MSF chaired the occasion in presence of other elites and icons like Prof Peter Agbor-tabi Assistant Sec General at the presidency, Takang Ebai President MSF, Dr Enow Orock Director Buea regional hospital, Mrs Frida Ngom of National Hydrocarbons corporations (SNH) amongst others.

Speaking at the ceremony Chief Prof Peter Agbor-tabi hailed the MFS for such kind gesture to encourage hardworking students and also called on them to find a solution for those who are intelligent yet do not have the financial opportunity to either go to school or buy books to make good results.  Hence Professor Agbor-tabi made an offer to sponsor laureates from Akwaya sub division.

Manyu youths were also encouraged to occupy themselves.  Price award was given to Egbekaw, the winners of the holiday football encounter finals between Egbekaw strikers and Ntenako warriors.

Under the sponsorship of United Action for Children, SNH and others,  the ceremony was graced with music by Manyu Artists Agbor Wilfred, known by the artistic name “Wil junior le jurist”, D.J Platiny and others who sang and exhibited the culture of the Manyu people.
