Emmy Award Winner Uses Dance To Praise God

By Walter Wilson Nana

African-American born missionary and onetime winner of the famous Emmy Awards, Tracye Campbell says it is possible to interpret the word of God through dance and in the process mobilise the old and the young for positive impact in their communities.

In the build up to an open-air praise and worship dance experience dubbed “Shake the Nations,” slated for the municipality of Buea, Saturday, January 26 2013, Campbell explained that the Everlasting Kingdom Praise Dance Ministry, where she is the leader will praise God through all forms of dance. “We’ll employ the Bikutsi, Hip-Hop, Salsa and interpretative dance to make them known as viable and high-spirited forms of praise and worship to God,” she said.

According to Campbell, her Ministry is using dance to usher people into the presence of God which can transform lives and revive truth, unity, peace and love into the nation of Cameroon and the world. “We desire to awaken the youth and encourage them to use their God-given talents to make a positive impact on this nation and the world.  It’s our wish to see every person use dance to get to God and shake themselves out of distress and into God’s presence,” the Missionary noted.

Working hand-in-glove with the Highest Praise International – a worship arts youth fellowship in Cameroon, the Emmy Award winner said; “We’ll make a bold statement that the best way to activate the presence of God is through high energy live-band music and dance performances.”

Campbell said there will also be a moment of short exhortations on the seven mountains of the society which include; Business, Arts & Entertainment, Media, Government, Education, Family & Religion. She will add; “We will open discussions on how people can discover their mountain and use their talents to gain financial freedom and positively impact the societal mountains in Cameroon.”

“Shake the Nations” is an event first initiated in Yaoundé on November 10,  2012 by Campbell, an African American from Chicago, Illinois and a minister at Christ’s Oasis Ministries also in Chicago. Formerly an Emmy Award winning television producer of arts, culture and educational programming for the Public Broadcasting System and Total Living Network, Tracye moved to Cameroon in August 2009 to develop a worship arts ministry, specifically in the area of dance. In 2011, Campbell and several members of different Christian denominational assemblies started Everlasting Kingdom Praise Dance Ministry to interpret the word of God through dance and use it to mobilize youth & adults in Cameroon, help them to discover their purpose in life and use it to positively impact their communities, the nation and the world.
