After three defeats and two draws, Tiko United has won their first match in the MTN Elite II Championship this season.

The ‘Samba Boys’ edged league leaders Scorpion of Be 1-0 in their Day 6 fixture which took place on Monday March 25, 2013, at the Tiko Town Green Stadium.

After a barren first half, it was attacker, Moulioum Ledoux, who struck at the 60th minute, to deliver the home side, and grant them their first win in six games.

To Tiko’s new head coach, Achuo James, their victory was thanks to some tactical adjustment made in the team.

“When I was appointed as an assistant, I saw the system of play, and I knew if I had the chance I would change certain things. There were about seven new players who started the championship while some old players were not being used. But I brought my own way of communicating with them. I gave them the confidence, and they have returned it. God is behind us, and we know we will not let Tiko down.

This victory has brought love and peace in Tiko. Happiness has gone round the town, and we know God is going to continue with us. We have started, and we will go ahead to bring First Division back to Tiko,” Achuo said.

On the other hand, the coach of Scorpion Wadale Jean congratulated the Tiko side for their victory, but blamed their demise on poor officiating.

“I am very disappointed. At the level of the game, Tiko played better, and merited their victory. My problem was the match officials, it is deplorable that players of both teams were eager to play but the referees spoilt the game.
Congratulations to Tiko, but the referees should not spoil the championship,” Wadale lamented.

Now totaling 5 points, Tiko United moves from the 14th to the 13th spot on the general classification.

Speaking to some of the fans of Tiko United, they were understandably excited about the victory, and said it was the beginning of better days for the club.

Six days into the Elite II championship, Tiko United is under a second coach, after Wamba Petit Michel is said to have thrown in the towel on account of pressure due to poor results.
