Bandits Burgle Buea P&T Credit Union, Kill Night Watchman

The Buea Post and Telecommunication Credit Union, fondly called P&T Credit Union came under attack from the men of the underworld in the night of Saturday, January 11 breaking Sunday, January 12 2014. In their misdeeds, the hoodlums killed the night watchman, Alex Toko, said to be in his late 20s and an indegene from the West Region of Cameroon.

According to a colleague from Mt. Cameroon FM Radio Station who got to the office of the Buea P&T Credit Union in the morning of Sunday, January 12 2014, after an alert, the lifeless body of Toko was found around the Buea P& T Credit Union premises with his hands tied behind him with a clothe, his legs tied at the knee and ankle levels as well as his mouth with cut out pieces of the blanket he had to cover himself from the biting cold in the night.

After killing Toko, the thieves broke open the Buea P&T Credit Union, ransacked some offices and tried to open one of their saves without success.

The remains of Toko have been taken to the Buea Hospital morgue, while Police investigations into the hideous crime is ongoing. However, observers have been quick to question why the Buea P&T Credit Union, situated opposite the Buea Central Police Office was successfully broken into and a guard killed, yet the Police officers at the station could not intervene or get wind of what was happening.

At press time this reporter tried reaching the Chairperson of the Buea P&T Credit Union, Andrew Abimni  on the phone without success, while the General Manager, Henry Nana, on the phone expressed shock and decline to make further comments.
