Belo – Student Commits Suicide After Failing GCE Exam

[Cameroon Tribune] Vanity Yong, 17, a student from Sowi village in Belo Subdivision, Boyo Division in the North Region, chose the ugly way to the world beyond when she reportedly consumed the toxic Gamaline chemical. She was prompted by the shame of failing the 2015 session of the Cameroon General Certificate of Education, GCE Ordinary Level examination for the second time. Vanity, who died at the Mbingo Baptist Hospital on August 6, 2015, was buried in her Sowi family compound the following day.
