World Bank Managing Director Arrives In Cameroon

Mulyani Indrawati, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer World Bank Group, arrived in Cameroon yesterday April 24, 2016, through the Yaounde Nsimalen International Airport.

Top on her agenda is the meeting with some State functionaries, sector representatives, and civil society, with discussions to focus on how the World Bank can best assist Cameroon to emerge in the wake of development challenges. She will also meet with beneficiaries of World Bank-sponsored projects that improve the livelihoods of Cameroonians in urban and rural areas. During her stay, Sri Mulyani Indrawati will also meet with private sector representatives in the fields of agriculture and energy. This will enable her to share and learn about the opportunities and challenges of the sector.{loadposition myposition} 

Sri Mulyani Indrawati’s visit comes to strengthen partnership between the World Bank and Cameroon. Priority areas during discussions with government officials include promoting inclusive growth, addressing regional poverty disparities, implementing structural reforms to speed up growth and the improvement of the business climate so as to promote job creation.

Cameroon is party to the World Bank since 1963. The World Bank portfolio in Cameroon now consists of 20 active projects. The transactions are evaluated at over 1.338 million US Dollars. They are funded under the International Development Association, IDA of the World Bank Group.
